“It’s not the days in life we remember, rather the moments."–Walt Disney
Let’s make history.
In 2004, I received an email about some Hockey Challenge event. It was the first time two all-women’s teams would be playing in the event. I’d just moved to the United States. Without knowing a soul, I joined the event.
I became a part of history.
I’m grateful to be in the story where we can play hockey to help others. Memories of the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Hockey Challenge are abundant: Tournaments, scoring goals, becoming a captain, playing nervously in my first All Star Game in 2012, promoting the event on local TV, and of course, the ongoing competition (Yes! We ARE champions on the ice and outside the arena, we’re the top women’s fundraising team…records undefeated since 2015!).
The best part of the story, however, is meeting the brave, young warriors and their families staying at the RMHC. In particular, my heart always holds Katie, the Honorary Captain in 2012, who inspired our teams and my life with her fearless, fighting spirit. Heroes of our story.
After 20 years of involvement with the event, my story is finally coming to an end. This is my SOOwan song. My heart is full. And so is the closet with all my All-Star jerseys! Join me as I ride into the sunset in style (on a Zamboni?!). I’ll be leading once again as a team captain in my final year. Will you help me make this the best year yet?
Be a part of the story.
That turns into history.
Let’s create a winning narrative of helping families stand strong so they can focus on their child’s healing, instead of worrying about basic shelter needs.
I’d like to seek your kind support through my collection of pledges for the RMHC:

Thank you for your kind support, making this a year to remember...and being a part of the legacy!
