Drs. Mignon Loh & Michael Vostrejs

2026 House that Love Built Gala Co-Chairs

Dr. Mignon Loh is a pediatric hematologist oncologist who is currently the Division Head of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplant, and Cellular Therapies at Seattle Children’s Hospital as well as the Director of the Ben Towne Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders Research at Seattle Children’s Research Institute.

Dr. Loh met her husband, Michael, at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons where they both earned their medical degrees. She completed her training at Harvard Medical School at Boston Children’s Hospital and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.  Her laboratory based research program has focused on translating genomic and biochemical discoveries in juvenile myelomonocytic (JMML) and acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) into therapies that can be incorporated into clinical trials to improve risk stratification, therapeutic precision, and outcome.

She was the Chair of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG) ALL committee from April 2015-January 2024 and was responsible for supervising and implementing the recent generation of national ALL trials for newly diagnosed and relapsed patients in more than 210 COG institutions, culminating in the exciting, recently published results on the benefits of blinatumomab when added to chemotherapy for patients enrolled on AALL1731. This trial led to a new standard of care therapy for the most common childhood cancer.

Dr. Loh loves to conduct research, both laboratory and clinical, mentor the next generation of curious minds, and take care of patients. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking and gardening, as well as biking and spending time with her husband and family.

Recognizing how essential it is to have stability and security in one’s childhood, Dr. Loh realizes how important it is to have a place like the Ronald McDonald house to support patients and their families in times of urgent medical need.

Dr. Michael Vostrejs is an orthopedic surgeon and physician-executive who recently retired from the Permanente Medical Group.  He attended medical school at the Columbia University College of Physician and Surgeons, where he met his future wife, Dr Mignon Loh.  He then completed surgical training at UCSF, Columbia, and Harvard.  After transitioning from faculty practice to Permanente, he became an expert in perioperative design, cost and value optimization, value-based contracting, and digital health implementation. He has an extensive background in arthroplasty research, clinical program design, and enterprise-scale performance improvement.

Dr. Vostrejs improved surgical quality across the Kaiser health system by designing and implementing evidence-based best practice standards for  perioperative medicine and expedited post-operative practices, allowing Permanente to be the pioneer in the implementation of outpatient total joint replacement, through state of the art pain management and safety protocols.  He later served as a national consultant for best practices in orthopedic surgery, as well as consulting on research through the KP Total Joint Registry, one of the largest such databases in the world.

Throughout his career he became a specialist in minimally invasive hip and knee surgery, with special expertise in unicondylar knee replacement.

He and Mignon share a deep commitment to pediatric medicine, especially in support of families with children facing cancer and other serious illness.
